“Jeeves At Sea” Chemainus Theatre Festival Spring 2024
“Jeeves At Sea” is a late 1920’s British comedy taking place on a yacht. I worked on the costumes for the two female characters.
The blue dress is made of satin and a floral organza flounces layered on the skirt portion of the dress and on the cuffs. The hip band is draped and all the pleats are sewn into place.
The late 1930’s style jumpsuit is made of rayon and floral cotton with a matching jacket. The jumpsuit’s bodice is fully lined and wraps around with matching ties. Matching the jumpsuit the jacket is fully lined in the matching floral cotton. The pink jacket is trimmed with the floral cotton.
The yellow bias dress has a satin layer and an organza layer with bias facings and French seams. The net ruffles where draped on the dress and sewn to overlap and create an asymmetrical hem. A trim was then made with chiffon flowers, silk ribbons and fabric on a bias strip of organza. The trim was then sewn onto the dress, trimming away excess organza. The dress opens at the shoulder with two hock and bars and a snap.
